(1) reply to this post requesting a letter and I will assign you one.
(2) list (and upload, if you want) 10 songs that start with that particular letter.

Shuffle meme (snagged from longaway39) - 2

You can learn a lot about someone by the music they listen to. So here is the game! Hit shuffle on your ipod or mp3 player and write down the first 25 songs. No cheating or skipping songs that are shameful. That is the fun! Then tag your friends.

Picspam #4: My First Love

I'll post an actual entry later, but for now I'll regale you with this slice of awesome.

I was first exposed to this guy at the tender age of 12. My hormones were just starting to wake; I really didn't understand why looking at him made me feel so...funny. Maybe it was his smile (with an adorable gap in the middle). Perhaps his thick dark hair, or his pale complexion, or those fucking gigantic blue eyes that I couldn't pull away from. Whatever it was though, it refused to let me be--and I liked it. Mere months after my first glimpse, I declared myself in love with him. And though it's been nearly eight years, and other crushes have come and gone, I realize now that he set my standards for male beauty--both inside and out.

No one has ever surpassed him. My first love, my longest, my strongest.

The following picspam is dedicated to him: Elijah Jordan Wood.

Been really into old Disney songs lately. No idea why.

Anyway, not much happening around these parts--I shall update when things get more exciting.

Most fun I've ever had in a grocery store

This happened just a few hours ago. Nick and I walked to the store to pick up a few things. We ended up leaving with Cocoa Pebbles, two boxes of Pop Tarts and Ruffles. Not only that, but both ways we were listening to MJ on my mp3 player and singing the songs at the top of our lungs. Did we draw a lot of stares? Yes. Would I trade it for anything? No.

That's another thing. We talked about it, and we realized that we had more fun just being pals tonight then we ever did as a couple. The time we spent dating was lovely, of course, but this was far less awkward and touchy-feely. I think I prefer it. :) A few weeks ago, I don't think I could've referred to Nick as a "sonafabitch" and laughed about it.

Just got finished watching Shoot 'Em Up for the first time with a bunch of friends. While it does have Clive Owen, a baby and the creative (and violent) use of a carrot, in the end was your typical BDAF--Big Dumb Action Flick. I probably won't be seeing it again.

What I will be doing, however, is rehearsing a scene for my first presentation in acting class. It's from a play called Brilliant Traces; my part doesn't have a great deal of lines, but it gives me a chance to broaden my horizons. I have to relie on my facial expressions more than bodily action...which, I admit, is difficult for me. Wish me luck!

Lastly, for the Queen fans out there: is it just me, or do Tom Tom Club's "Genius of Love" and Man Friday and Jive Junior's "Picking Up Sounds" (featuring Deaky!) sound awfully similar? I listened to them back to back, and I can hear it--can you?

It's not exactly quick, but I love my mom's beef stew. Just throw a hunk of beef, chopped carrots and parsnips, diced onions and water into a crock pot, let simmer for a few hours...and voila! Make sure it's served right away, with a fresh roll for dipping. Yum! :)

Anyway, trying to work on my logic homework, but partying in [info]shamone_mj is proving too tempting. What can you do, huh?

1. Put your music player on all your music, then shuffle.
2. Press forward for each question.
3. Use the song title as the answer to the question even if it doesn’t make sense. NO CHEATING!
4. Tag 4 people.

I may have already done this, but who cares? :P

My first college party

It was a rather tame affair--the birthday party of a room mate of a friend--but fun all the same. I stumped them at Hangman with the title of a Kinks album (Village Green Preservation Society), and I even got to show off my MJ moves, such as they are. And yes, Thriller was a hit. :P I even got free cake out of it...do you know how long it's been since I've had cake?

However, I'm worried all might not be well with the boyfriend. He seemed rather distant today. I'm hoping it's just a temporary phase; if it isn't, I don't know what I'll do.

If a magic genie told you your calories wouldn't count for 24 hours, would it change what and how much you ate that day?

View 1264 Answers

Not really. I have the appetite of a sparrow, so I barely eat anyway, and I've been trying to eat more healthy foods since arriving at college. MAYBE I'd indulge in a piece or two of Godiva chocolate. Maybe. But nothing more.

Geez, EVERYONE'S depressed today!

It's just one of those days, I guess.

The Summer of Death claims another.

Some months ago--on June 25th, to be exact--I hoped that Patrick Swayze wouldn't be a victim of the so-called "Summer of Death." After the horrible experience of losing Michael, it seemed like anyone could be next. Patrick had been so optimistic about his battle with pancreatic cancer that I sincerly prayed he'd pull through; it's a tough disease.

Sadly, it proved to be too tough. Patrick Swayze died a few hours ago, his family by his side. Wherever he is now, may he rest in peace.

(Side note: Janet Jackson's tribute to her brother on Sunday's VMAs KICKED FUCKIN' ASS. Find a video of it if you can...her fierceness knows no bounds.)

The dangers of oversleeping

  • Sep. 12th, 2009 at 10:37 PM
the_who

So I was asleep until 2:00 today. Sure, I was tired and I didn't feel very well (still don't--it's THAT TIME, if you know what I mean), but I actually hate sleeping in. It makes me feel unproductive. I spent most of the subsequent time outside doing homework, then I went to dinner. Oddly, the boyfriend was there at the same time. We didn't plan to meet up, but it was awfully nice to eat together.

Have I mentioned lately how awesome he is? :) Yesterday he helped me hang up my posters. They look great...especially the new Michael Jackson one I can stare at from my bed. You can see the design here: image.oneposter.com/product/20304-1-400x400.jpg Isn't it a beauty?

Tomorrow? Reading poetry for Brit Lit, which includes my poet love Percy Shelley, then the VMAs with the boyfriend. The This Is It trailer will have its world premiere and Janet will perform a tribute to her brother, so set your DVRs--it should be fabulous!

Writer's Block: Finders keepers?

If you found a $100 at the library, would you pocket it or turn it in? What about at a diner or pub? Confess!

View 1038 Answers

To be honest? I'd turn it in and keep whatever they wanted to give me as reward money, if any. I have plenty of money in my bank account and don't need any more at the moment.

I played my first ever water pong tournament tonight--with the boyfriend, of course. (We're a non-alcoholic campus.) Our team name was the Jacksons. We hoped that taking the King of Pop's name would inspire us to victory...alas, it didn't, but we still had fun. Did I mention that he spent this afternoon repairing a button of mine that I broke? He actually fixed it too! He is so sweet. :)

Today would have been Freddie's 63rd birthday, and in honor of that I'm going to do the Hot Guy Picspam Meme with him as the subject. (Thanks to [info]rooftopconcert for suggesting him.)

If anyone else wants a guy, I'll be happy to give you one!

Some thoughts

- I'm home till Monday evening, and it feels good to be back.
-Today is Nick's and my one-week anniversary. We're still very happy. :)
- Beatles Rock Band needs to be in my life right this very minute.
-A trip to Whole Foods is imminent!
-Just because it's a break doesn't mean I can't have homework...shitload of logic to do this weekend.
-Michael Jackson was finally laid to rest last night. May he be at peace.

Oh, and [info]rooftopconcert assigned me Freddie Mercury for the hot guy picspam meme. I'll do it tomorrow--it is his birthday, after all. :)

What was your first job?

View 551 Answers

In the summer of 2007, and continuing till Christmas of that year, I was a cashier at Arby's. Was it boring? Yes. Did it put me off Arby's for an extremely long time? Yes. Was it awkward for me because I was (and, to a degree, still am) terrible with strangers? Yes.

Was it still better than my next job, which was food prep at a different Arby's? ...Hell yes.

Listen to this!

You'll love it! (And no, that's not a Jackson 5 sample. I wish it was, though.)

School's going well. I've finally been to all of my classes, and I already have homework. :/ The boyfriend and I met up for breakfast today--but since he takes eight classes a week (most of which have labs) and I take five, I don't know when we're going to be able to spend real time together. :(

But in the meantime...

So unfair. *sniff*

Later, a longe entry about what happened to me last night...it was wonderful!
